As a member of the IT Support team of EEECS at Queen’s University Belfast you will contribute to the overall mission and values of the School by providing high quality support and technical service delivery to staff and students. This will be accomplished by: installing and configuring hardware and software; promoting effective use of technology by users; providing technical assistance and operational support with hardware and software; monitoring and supervising student computing labs; and providing a high level of customer service in response to user requests for assistance.
Our computer technicians play a central role in the School’s culture of collaboration, coordination and innovation using effective communication and problem-solving skills. This part-time evening post is based in the purpose-built Computer Science Building (CSB), 18 Malone Road, Belfast.
The normal working week will be 18.5 hours per week. During term-time CSB operates evening opening to 10pm and it is envisaged that this post will provide Technical Support cover at least 3 evenings a week. The remaining hours will be spent flexibly working and coordinating with the Technical and IT Support Teams. Occasionally work during 9.00 - 5.00 hours may be required, by arrangement, to provide support cover for other members of the Computer Technician team.
The successful candidate must have, and you should clearly demonstrate this in your CV/Cover letter:
•Academic or vocational qualifications (e.g. NVQ 3, 2 A Levels , ONC/OND, City and Guilds level 3 or equivalents in a relevant subject) plus 2 years demonstrable work experience in a relevant role;
•Proven experience of installing and configuring Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software suite in a networked environment.
