    Your role in the team

     

    The Allstate Canada Group (ACG) production health monitoring team is looking for a Senior Monitoring Data Analyst who has the knowledge on monitoring tools and data analysis to help improve the monitoring landscape in ACG.

     

    You will be part of ACG Production Health Monitoring team working on analysing the data collected through the various monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, IRIS and SolarWinds. Will be mainly responsible to help monitoring team achieve the desired goal of availability and usability by enabling the provision of required data. Should have working knowledge of monitoring tools. Primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction metrics to be used to enhance the Application and Infra availability within ACG.

     

     

    The Senior Monitoring Data Analyst will need to collaborate primarily with development teams, production support teams and Infrastructure teams across ACG to design and build data solutions which can be leveraged in activities corresponding to troubleshooting and resolving any degradation of performance and/or application availability

     

    • Data mining using state-of-the-art methods
    • Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems for Monitoring
    • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
    • Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
    • Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance
    • Meet and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and requirement
    • Provide proactive solutions to address potential issues
    • Support to develop Splunk and/or Datadog dashboards for various applications
    • Build relationships with members of multiple Engineering, Development, Operations, and Architecture organizations
    • Create and maintain technology and application documentation for use by peers
    • Provides detailed metrics to Team lead/Manager in a timely manner

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • Minimum 4 years’ overall experience in Information Technology (IT)
    • Strong working knowledge of Application and Infrastructure monitoring tool such as Splunk, SolarWinds and Datadog with minimum 1 year of hands on any one
    • Experience in Multiple OS platforms with strong emphasis on Linux and or Windows systems
    • Evidence of utilizing data science or data visualization toolkits, ideally within monitoring

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Good scripting and programming skills – Python or R
    • Exposure in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig
    • Experience with data visualisation tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
