    Your role in the team

     

    The Allstate Canada Group is looking for a passionate and influential Scrum Master to join our Corporate Services Product Delivery Team as they embark on a major project to develop multiple, ground-up applications including investment technology, auditing and finance tools.

     

    As Scrum Master, you will work with Business Product Owners and IT Product Delivery Manager to ensure continuously delivery of working software that provides the highest value for the business.  You will provide effective collaboration, leadership, coaching and facilitation while working hands on with the Scrum Team to keep the iteration delivery on-time and with the expected functionality.  You will be responsible for encouraging adherence to the rules of Scrum, removing impediments from the team while promoting self-management and constantly improving our standards of work.

    • Accountable, alongside the scrum team, for achieving release objectives and results as set out by the Product Delivery Manager.
    • Removing impediments to the team's progress to its sprint commitments.
    • Ensuring team alignment with agile scrum practices and norms while managing performance of the scrum team through joint accountability.
    • Engendering a collaborative and trusting team environment by creating and maintaining appropriate vehicles for open communication, such as tracker boards, within the scrum team.
    • Supporting and crystallizing the team to create clear and concise Backlog items.
    • Setting team goals, facilitating team discussions, resolving conflicts and achieving collective decision-making.
    • Establishing release management oversight. You will work across teams to plan feature releases that are well-timed and executed.
    • Collaborating and partner within and beyond one's team; builds productive relationships with other teams.
    • Engaging team problem-solving through evaluation of options and selecting solutions.
    • Managing risks to delivery and external dependencies; escalating issues through Product Delivery Manager and Product Owner where necessary.

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a technical role, ideally in an Enterprise environment
    • Undergraduate Degree in computer engineering, business, information sciences, related field or equivalent related experience
    • A minimum of 2+ years Scrum Master experience
    • 3+ years of practical experience in any of the key disciplines required in agile delivery – such as software development or business analysis, project management, etc
    • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach teams towards high performance in an Agile environment
    • Deep knowledge of Agile principles, methodologies, reporting tools and techniques and the flexibility to adapt previous experience to new and evolving environments
    • Great interpersonal skills working in a team environment

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Scrum Master certification; PMI - Agile Certified Practitioner
    • Prior experience in software development.
    • Experience with Agile concepts such as User Experience and Design Thinking.
    • Working experience with agility at scale (e.g. SAFe Framework)
    • Insurance or Financial industry experience
    • Strong understanding of software technologies and of the various Software Development Life Cycle methodologies (Agile, Incremental and Iterative, Lean)
    • Experience in working with Software Vendors & Releases.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication that can be adapted for different audiences
