Allstate operate a very flexible hybrid working policy that will allow you to design your working week in collaboration with your manager with a blend of remote and office working for NI based employees as well as condensed working patterns (4 day week/9 day fortnight). Employees based in GB will be employed on a permanent remote working contract.

Your role in the team
The Technical Writer role sits within a critical team in Allstate Northern Ireland, driving critical data governance and cataloging efforts for the enterprise. You will play a leading role in driving the operationalization and adoption of the data marketplace across the enterprise. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the team’s execution on complex, high priority initiatives with data management and data privacy compliance impacts to the enterprise. This role requires innovative thinking to enable key capabilities and onboard the user community to an automated data management and data provisioning solution.
Successful execution of this role will require an ability to juggle technical and people-process objectives. Cataloging and privacy management is handled on a variety of data sources independently managed by different groups. Supporting the different areas will require an ability to communicate with and instruct technical developers, architectural consultants, business owners and leaders in different areas on the use of a technical toolset while also driving the end value to promote adoption.
A strong product mindset coupled with excellent communication skills are required to effectively influence multiple levels of leadership to deliver on prioritized business outcomes. This will be a high visibility role that requires someone with extremely strong communication and training skillsets coupled with the ability to work with SMEs to understand a technical set of vended applications.
Rolling out in a self-service model will involve gaining organic buy-in that reduces technical hurdles and promotes excitement/engagement from the user community. To do this a variety of resources will need to be developed or refined such as e-learning training curriculum, informational videos, technical how-to documentation, operational playbooks, Job Aids executive summaries, etc. Allstate’s innovative approach to data governance involves cutting-edge solutions involving vended and homegrown capabilities.
