    Job Description

     

    As a Data Platform Engineer, you will leverage data intensive technologies to store and process large volumes of data in support of research analytics and real-time analytic platforms.  You will also advise clients on best practice and correct use of technology, and drive proof of concept initiatives to continually improve our platforms and capabilities.  

     

    You will help us on performance tuning and scalability improvements of distributed applications, while researching and evaluating new tools and technologies to solve business problems. We’re focused on developing out platform, so we want to give you the opportunity to design and build platforms for analyzing data into actionable insights that can translate business concepts into technical implementations.

     

    You will be part of a geographically dispersed team embracing Agile and DevOps and participate in strategic planning discussions with technical and non-technical partners. You will drive effective and efficient utilization of Data Engineering tools and techniques to provide expert advice to our clients.

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK
    • A minimum of 3 years industry experience in a Data Engineering role

     

     

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • ETL Technologies.
    • NoSQL databases (E.g. Mongo, HBase, Cassandra).
    • Search technologies (Solr, ElasticStack).
    • Hadoop and associated technologies (e.g. Hive / Impala, Spark).
    • Kafka and streaming technologies (E.g. Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect, Apache Flink)..
    • Ability to meet deadlines, goals and objectives.
    • Database or Platform Administration.
    • Experience of Linux (Red Hat or Ubuntu) or Windows Operating Systems administration
    • Knowledge and experience of one of the following Database technologies
      • Oracle
      • SQL Server
      • MongoDB
    • Working knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub
    • Ability to script in at least one language Bash, PowerShell or Python
