    Your role in the team

     

    We are on the lookout for a talented Product Manager to join our super star Security Operations team, who are transforming Allstate security operations in parallel to Allstate’s rapid technology program.

    Allstate is building life-changing digital products, and the Security Operations Center (SOC) plays a critical role in supporting and protecting our customers through challenging and difficult times. We pride ourselves in taking a lean XP agile approach in order to create cutting-edge technology solutions, whilst crafting amazing customer interactions across all channels.

     

    Security Operations provides core security monitoring, response, and assurance functions as a shared service across Allstate’s many technology areas, including infrastructure, applications, and cloud and vended (SaaS) solutions.  We provide these services to Allstate technology teams, as well as governance teams including compliance and risk management functions.  We also deliver core operations technology capabilities that keep responders in a constant state of operational readiness.

     

    The SOC Product Manager manages strategic product vision, product discovery, roadmaps, financials, and backlog to maximize the customer and enterprise value provided by their product.  The SOC Product Manager works closely with key stakeholders, partners, and customers to ensure the successful definition and execution of go-to market and communications strategies for their products.  SOC Product Managers are also responsible for actively participating in our learning culture; including coaching and mentoring staff, stakeholders, and peers on lean product mindset and agile.  The role focuses on delivering business value to drive cloud adoption, improve efficiency, and improve customer satisfaction through the production of quality cloud products and services.

    • You’ll collaborate with others in order to define and articulate product vision and roadmaps
    • You will create and refine product team backlogs using detailed persona-driven stories, which support full-stack agile teams
    • Partner with analytics, engineering, and operations managers, engineers, executive leadership and other business areas to define problem statements, product vision, and success criteria
    • You’ll take complex topics and features and be able to translate these into a set of independent, small, testable stories
    • You’ll contribute to work planning by representing the voice of the customer in prioritizing and grooming the backlog for security analytics and engineering teams
    • You’ll work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making in order to influence product strategy and roadmap
    • You will regularly work with leadership in order to align your product roadmap with portfolio-level goals & objectives
    • You’ll question the ‘why’ and use data analysis and customer research in order to make informed data-driven decisions for your product (for example: frame a build vs. buy decision and use KPIs to evaluate a direction)
    • You’ll regularly be able to define and use metrics as a basis for future product related decisions and measuring your product success
    • You will promote team culture and health through regular retrospectives and open discussion
    • You’ll be an advocate for continuous improvement and share new and alternative methods for product delivery with the wider team – we value your creativity.

     

    The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

     

    • As a SOC Product Manager, you will be empowered to create, drive, and execute product strategy for products in our growing security product ecosystem, including SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management, reporting, and knowledge management products
    • Collaborate with customers to understand their needs & habits to produce concepts and/or to release product iterations
    • Experience in translating business case(s) into roadmaps that demonstrate how activities will meet KPIs and deliver customer and enterprise value
    • Experience in one or more of the following: security operations, security incident & event management, DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud infrastructure, big data, or development and operations
    • Understanding of lean concepts such as using MVPs to validate assumptions, fail fast and delivering simplicity of design
    • Familiar with, (or passionate about!) design-thinking, and applying practical customer-centered-design techniques, such as customer journey mapping, in order to learn more about customers and to gather their feedback to product concepts/iterations
    • Clear passion for topics of technology products and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate in our product space
    • Entrepreneurial with a strong inclination towards action and leadership in ambiguous situations
    • Be a voice for our customers
    • Drive change, and challenge processes

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.  Please note, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
    • 5+ years’ experience in a hands-on technical role, ideally with a security focus, such as Security Operations, Security Incident & Event Management, Software Development, Security Architecture, DevOps, DevSecOps or Cloud Infrastructure.
    • 2+ years’ Product Management experience or 2+ years’ people management experience in a technically focused role 
    • Understanding of Security Operations and Security Incident & Event Management
    • Previous experience working in a fast-paced agile, scrum, XP or lean environment with knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework
    • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and competing agendas without express authority over delivery teams
    • Be able to demonstrate a passion for learning and learning agility
    • Excellent communications skills
    • Ability to be self-directed and to proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities
