    Your role in the team

     

    The Team

    This is an exciting time to join Usage Based Insurance. Telematics is a key pillar of Allstate’s future growth.  The Usage Based Insurance area are looking for a passionate DBA to join their team.

     

     

    The role

    The successful applicant will be working in a global team needing good communication skills to maintain a working relationship with teams across 3 continents.  The successful applicant will be working primarily along with the UBI DBAs, analysts and developers. They will be required to complete daily production support tasks, provide input to queries, as well as resolve issues and approve DB scripts.

     

    The person

     

    Candidates should be self-motivated and collaborative IT professionals with a strong background in databases and SQL development.  This role will suit individuals who have a passion for working with data.

     

    • Data analysis
    • DB related production support for example;
      • Working problem and incident tickets to help solve problems in the existing production environment
      • Data related corrective action work
    • DB related on call and out of hours maintenance including release work
    • DB development work including updating and creating new stored procedures, packages and tables to meet new business/system/performance requirements

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK
    • At least 4 years’ experience in SQL
    • Either some PL/SQL experience or a keen interest in learning PL/SQL and experience with processing significant volumes of data in another language; and
    • Experience with Oracle
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Well-developed problem-solving skills

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

    • Knowledge/interest in agile/scrum
    • Experience in using editor tools like SQL Developer
