    Your role in the team

     

    Allstate Technology & Strategic Ventures (ATSV) team is embarking on a journey to shape the future in large scale security platform development for emerging technologies.

     

    The team will be undertaking work to develop state-of-the-art analytical capabilities within Allstate Information Security to ensure that decisions are supported by relevant, timely data-driven insights and metrics.  The team needs people who are experienced developing secure data pipelines which will ingest data from disparate sources and get it to the right place at the right time, all the while ensuring its confidentiality, integrity and availability.

     

    • You will help establish a secure development lifecycle for a research and innovation lab
    • You will develop solutions to pipe data from disparate sources into a security data-lake.
    • You will incorporate state-of-the-art security and privacy technologies into data pipelines
    • Provide assistance to engineer and implement new security tools to feed our continuous innovation process
    • Work with different business areas in order to understand data flows and how they can be incorporated into a security data-lake or warehouse. 
    • Understand state-of-the-art and emerging security trends, technologies and future landscapes
    • You will be an active member of Research and Innovation team, developing Proof-of-Concept implementations and industry-leading security and privacy engineering solutions
    • You will take an active role in engaging with university research programs and assist with mentoring PhD/masters students

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Software Engineer or Data role
    • Degree in electronic/software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or related discipline
    • At least two years of experience working with sophisticated data pipelines
    • Proven experience implementing high-performance, low-latency data pipeline solutions into production systems 
    • Demonstrable Experience with languages such as C/C++, Java, Scala, Python
    • Experience or knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, etc

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Master's degree or PhD
    • Experience within a secure CI/CD framework
    • Strong understanding of security protocols and standards, such as SSL/TLS, DTLS, IKE, IPsec, PKI
    • Proven experience leading & managing projects surrounding data pipeline management
    • Proven experience leading & managing teams of technical individuals 
    • Proven experience in any of the following:
      • Distributed computing or big data frameworks such as Spark, Mesos or Hadoop
      • Linux and shell scripting
      • Data formats such as JSON, XML, Parquet or Avro
      • ETL software such as Ab Initio, Informatica or CloverETL
      • The use of machine learning or statistics to solve real-world problems
    • Experience of working with secure real-time processing design
    • Knowledge of cloud platforms (for example, AWS, Azure)
