    Job Description

    Version 1 is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Test Practice Lead who is passionate about the quality of Digital Services they build.  We are a Microsoft, Oracle, and AWS Partner and we are working with an increasing number of significant clients across UK public and private sectors. We need you to help us support our ambitious growth plans. 

    You will work with our current and prospective client base to set our testing direction -  delivering projects,  defining our portfolio of service offerings and building out our testing capabilities. 

    Your main responsibilities will be: 

    • Define and own a principles-driven test approach that provides direction, purpose, and clarity for the testing practice to enable client success and confidence in Version 1s quality practices. 

    • Define and own an automation approach that works with current and upcoming customer tooling needs.  You will create automated testing approaches which covers UI and API functionality, whilst considering performance, accessibility, security and load-testing requirements. 

    • Establish a market leading testing practice by defining career and learning pathways for your team, to enable them to implement best practices and exceptional quality processes. 

    • Collaborate with deployed staff and our customers across multiple projects to provide consultative advice, guidance, governance, and assurance 

    • Engage with our clients to lead testing within complex programmes, projects, and teams, including planning, monitoring and guiding testing efforts. 

    • Engage with senior internal and external stakeholders to communicate and manage risks and issues while maintaining accountability of testing progress. 

    Qualifications
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to senior stakeholders with varying levels of technical ability. 

    • Demonstrable experience of building and managing a Testing Practice. 

    • Demonstrable experience in testing against cloud solutions (AWS/Azure) 

    • Demonstrable engineering capability with expertise coding in at least one programming language (Java, C#, JavaScript, Ruby or Python) 

    • Demonstrable capability in automating UI Testing with Selenium (or similar). Strong understanding of defining automation approaches for client/server side rendered UIs. 

    • Expertise in exploratory testing, able to define context-driven approaches, appropriate for the functionality being tested. 

    • Demonstrable capability in automation of APIs in RestAssured/RestSharp/Karate (or similar) 

    • Demonstrable capability in automation of accessibility standard checks with Axe (or similar) and understanding of assistive technologies and users that use them. 

    • Demonstrable experience of Performance testing and Load Testing using JMeter, Artillery (or similar). 

    • Demonstrable experience in Continuous Integration with a good understanding of Continuous Delivery concepts. 

    • Awareness of context-driven testing (ideally completed Rapid Software Testing) 

    • Awareness of automated security testing using OWASP ZAP, Gauntlt or BurpSuite 

    • Awareness of automating infrastructure compliance testing using tools like Inspec 

    Note - This position requires you to be able to gain UK Government ‘SC’ security clearance.
