School & College Leaver - Operate Belfast Autumn 2021

  • Who we are
Our purpose - to build trust in society and solve important problems - has never felt more relevant. We bring our purpose to life through our focus on our clients, our people and the communities in which we live and work to address current and future challenges. As one of the world’s leading professional services organisations, attracting the right talent continues to be paramount. Investing in our people is central to our mission and inclusive culture. Whether it be empowering our people to learn new skills for the digital world, to reimagine the possible on how we work with clients, or to be open-minded on how we care for and support each other, we want to create an environment where our people can be the best they can be.

    School and College Leaver programme
A position on our School and College Leaver programme is one of the best ways to kickstart your career with PwC. Our programmes are designed to help you develop your business skills through real client work, while also completing formal training and studying towards qualifications to give you a head start in your career. PwC will provide you with support all the way. You’ll earn a competitive salary, benefit from our excellent support networks and have the opportunity to continually progress your career. Just like our graduate joiners, you’ll work on varied and challenging client and internal projects, which make a real difference to the world of business. You’ll be coached by our people, who are experts in their field, and at the same time, thanks to our study support, you won’t need to worry about paying for course and exam fees, textbooks or revision materials.

What we do in Operate, My Financepartner
My Financepartner (MFp) is PwC’s tailored accounting service for ambitious start-ups and fast growing businesses that demand more. Unlike most accountants, our service is designed to work as an extension to a company’s existing finance team or could even be an alternative to them hiring one at all.

And it’s not just all over the phone work either. We spend time in our client’s offices getting to know their business, what’s important to them, before working alongside their team to help them understand and manage the financial performance of their business. My Financepartner brings together specialist bookkeepers, payroll professionals, tax advisors and leading cloud technology to meet even the most demanding business needs.

    What you'll do
You will play a key role in supporting the team with delivery of monthly MFp services to our clients. You will get experience across all aspects of producing monthly management accounts and information, including transactional posting, bank reconciliations, VAT, PAYE, month end accounting and regularly liaising with your clients. We will provide professional development and on the job training which will compliment your studies towards your accounting qualification. You will work on a range of SME and innovative start up companies operating across various different industries, such as hospitality, IT, financial services and retail.

You will get the opportunity to develop your digital capabilities, using technology where possible to make processes more efficient and connecting with your clients using digital platforms. You will get exposure to emerging digital technology, such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and management reporting tools to create visual management information packs.

    What you'll gain
You will study towards the Accounting Technician qualification from Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).

    What you’ll need

    • Minimum requirements are 112 UCAS tariff from up to three full A-Levels or equivalent (not including General Studies or Critical Thinking), and a Grade C or 4 or above in GCSE (or equivalent) English Language and Mathematics.

    • Exams must have been taken in the same sitting and resits are accepted only where modules or papers have been retaken in the same academic year. If you have any extenuating circumstances related to your exam marks or the sequencing of your exams, please declare this on your application and this will be considered as we review your application.

    Explore. Inspire. Reimagine.
