    Your role in the team

     

     

     

    The Enterprise Data Quality team works across Allstate to execute data quality initiatives in partnership with Data Governance and contributes to the foundation for all data-driven decision making at Allstate.

     

    As our Information Analyst you will be given the opportunity to work independently on projects of low to medium complexity, however you’ll always have guidance on projects of higher complexity. As the expert in your field you will advance our use of data quality methodologies. Through independent analysis and guidance on basic design efforts, you’ll assist in defining, developing and implementing data quality solutions. 

     

    You will perform data profiling across multiple data types, validate the data quality through business rule development, review and analyze data profiling results, and participate in the data investigation workshops.

     

    All while leveraging the approved methodology and tools to identify, analyze and investigate data for the value and accuracy relative to a particular asset as well as a given data element.

    • Profiling and assessing business unit data to identify anomalies;
    • Working with the Business Units to identify data quality rule requirements against identified anomalies;
    • Creation of data quality mappings and rules using Informatica based on identified requirements;
    • Promotion of rules to production Informatica via agreed change processes.
    • Work with business users to understand their business functions and processes in order to help them define analytic and reporting requirements, including data and metadata requirements for their systems that are complete and unambiguous.
    • Constructs and executes moderate to complex SQL queries and review data profiling results to discover semantics, patterns and value domains of data under analysis. Translated to integrate with current vended platform.
    • Performs complex data analysis utilizing multiple techniques to determine, document and communicate existing data relationships, profiles and quality levels; uncovers anomalies and variances in data content from expected results
    • Analyze and determine scope and volumetric parameters that dictate data profiling activity
    • Maintains understanding of software industry and provides direction for future solutions
    • Review and validate accuracy of other’s estimates
    • Assist with ideation, project initiation or planning for projects of high complexity
    • Applies knowledge of tools and processes and educates business areas on effective data quality toolsets that will help guide business areas to successful implementation of the Enterprise Data Standards.
    • Creates basic technical requirements through analyzing business and functional requirements
    • Creates and evaluates Proof of Concepts (POCs)
    • Supports the planning, conduct, and review of module and integration testing for all but the most complex projects

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role; and
    • Prior experience in database modeling classes, MIS or EIS, system support, analytics, or statistics; and
    • Experience using SQL data manipulation (preferable in Oracle/SQL Developer); and
    • Experience with data analysis, developing/maintaining reports;
    • Must be a UK/RoI/EU citizen or possess a current UK visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

    • Exposure to Data Quality terms and procedures
    • Experience of using Regular Expressions
    • Experience with Business Objects, Excel / VBA Macro
    • Understanding of coding and development principles and practices
    • Insurance or Financial Services experience
