  Job Description

  We are looking for individuals with a strong desire to build better products, delight customers and learn and develop themselves. The Test Engineer role is at the heart of Allstate’s technology transformation. The successful candidates will support the existing Billing, Integrated Payments Systems (IPS) and Enterprise Card Services (EPCS) applications and will play a key role in the implementation of the test strategy for our new billing application in 2020, and maintenance activities thereafter.

  The Test Engineers will work with the Test Architect, Product Owner and Developers to deliver incremental and base work in an agile methodology. Active participation in daily stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospectives will be expected. The Test Engineer will also be responsible for bug reporting/management.

  The Test Engineer will be expected to help maintain the automated regression suite for our Integrated Payments Systems (IPS) and Enterprise Card Services (EPCS) applications, making improvements where necessary. The role will also involve a large element of manual testing.

  Although Billing is currently a mainframe-based operation, a modern replacement is on the way. Plans for the phased introduction of the Majesco application are well progressed. From a testing perspective, this Quantum initiative brings new opportunities for web-based functional UI and services automated testing.

  Essential Criteria

  • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ testing experience
  • Have a testing background, with experience creating test strategies, test plans and requirements traceability documentation;
  • Practical experience with Selenium, creating automation scripts to test web applications;
  • Experience using test management tools (e.g. HPQC, Jira/Zephyr);
  • Demonstrate commitment to deliver a quality product;
  • Experience working within an agile scrum team;
  • Experience of manual testing

  Desirable Criteria

  • Experience testing Billing and IPS applications
  • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins and Octopus Deploy
  • Experience testing IBM mainframe-based applications
