Workshop/Laboratory Technician

  • We are looking to recruit a Stores Technician for the School of EEECS based in The Ashby Building Stranmillis Road, which is part of Queens University Belfast. 

    As a member of the Technical team, you will support the teaching and students in laboratories and workshops. You will be expected to have practical knowledge in repair and fault-finding to component level. Other duties will include ordering spares and keeping expenditure records for student’s projects, operating a range of standard engineering machine tools, such as bench drill, Soldering Equipment, Laser cutters, 3d printers. Some liaison with external suppliers may also be required.

    The successful candidate must have: 

    • Academic and/or vocational qualifications e.g. NVQ level 3, ONC/OND or equivalent) in Electronics
    • 2 years relevant work experience including experience working with discrete Electronics components
    • Proven skills in soldering on circuit boards with Surface Mounted Components (S.M.T)
