    Job Description

    Consumer Technology is a division of Allstate Personal Lines Technology providing customers and prospects the capabilities they need to form and maintain their relationship with Allstate and their agents. The organization focuses significantly on innovation as consumers expect experiences in other industries to translate into their insurance experience.

    You will be responsible for leading the Customer Communications organization under Consumer Technology.

    The Customer Communications organization provides engineering strategy & implementation of policy-related document delivery to end customers. These communications reflect the integrity of our brands and bring tangibility to the promise we make to our customers. The organization currently consists of approximately 70 resources working across the United States, Northern Ireland and India with an annual budget of $10M.

    The team is accountable for the management and delivery of the following tracks:

    • Content Management
    • Document Rationalization
    • eDelivery Ecosystem
    • Run the Business delivery projects for a variety of DCIO’s
    • Production Support
    • Print Services and Standards within OPC

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • The Senior Manager is responsible for strategy and operations of owned technology products and all engineering resources.
    • The Senior Manager is expected to create a work environment that enables their engineering resources to work in a self-directed manner. The Senior Manager focuses on coaching and development of staff, providing strategic thought leadership in software engineering practices, security of assets, and technology-driven strategies for their business function alignment.
    • Strategic vision is required to understand opportunities for where the Customer Communication suite of products can expand to service additional clients and mature further.
    • Change Agent - advancing strategic initiatives
    • Engaging with business leaders, application development teams, vendors and product managers to develop and launch solutions that are structured for stability, reuse, future expansion and with optimal end user experience.
    • Provide coaching and guidance to managers in the development of themselves and their teams.
    • Identify opportunities to improve the approaches/processes in the engineering of owned products.
    • Provide leadership in areas such as financial management, Human Resource management, vendor contract negotiations, engineering best practices, and other duties as required

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • Minimum of 5 years management experience in a software development environment, including accountability for all aspects of leading an organization including people management & development across multiple global organisations, finance/budgetary management, client/partner relationships, strategy planning and implementation, work processes and delivery of work products; and
    • Strong technical leadership abilities which should include a minimum of 2 years managing several first line managers; and
    • Proven ability in strategy planning and implementation which has had an impact on the technology direction for the division, business segment and/or enterprise; and
    • Proven ability to manage talent and skills transition within a global organization/team including development of skills succession planning and human capital planning; and
    • Previous experience of building and sustaining global relationships with business partners, stakeholders and vendors.

    Desirable Criteria

    • 3rd level qualification (ideally within an IT related discipline)
    • Previous experience in an insurance environment – ideally at a leadership level
    • Software development experience – technical and leadership preferred
    • Working knowledge of engineering practices (CI/CD) and familiarity with Opentext Exstream, Tibco and Java.
    • Previous experience working in an agile environment

    Travel requirements

    • Flexibility required to meet business needs
    • Travel to US/India as required to meet business needs
