    Job Description

    A Data Analytics Lead Consultant is responsible for providing data and analytical support to audit teams in executing various phases (i.e., planning, fieldwork, reporting) of their engagements using analytical methods/techniques. This role is responsible for executing tasks that have impact to the data analytics strategy of the Internal Audit Department. This includes initiatives that increase productivity and realizing cost savings by building a knowledge repository of data and analytics developed for audit testing; Implementation of data extraction, translation, and load processes; Automation of end-to-end control or process testing.  Development of machine learning algorithms to facilitate annual audit planning and improve the efficiency and accuracy of data analytics work.

    Allstate Internal Audit (Allstate IA) Data Analytics Center of Excellence (COE)

    Allstate Internal Audit (Allstate IA) Data Analytics Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for providing data-driven and systematic assurance across Allstate Corporation. Our objective is to enable Internal Audit to leverage data and analytics to drive more robust audit processes that provides more breadth and in-depth insights to the company’s overall understanding of its risk environment.

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • Build and maintain a database knowledge repository including list of databases, data hierarchy, access levels, data dictionary, etc. Being the data subject matter expert for data analytics COE team.
    • With deep understanding of various data extraction techniques performed for both structured and unstructured data.  Standardized data extraction process to improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • Assist data analytics COE team in extracting the data for audit tests.
    • Work with Audit team to conduct data analytics tests by leveraging data analytics and machine learning.
    • Develop the analytical solutions including new methods/tools to continuously improve the quality of audit tests.
    • Research innovative technologies to enhance IA analytical capabilities in solving the data analytical issues/challenges within the team.
    • Support/lead team training on advanced analytics and machine learning; Educate IA employees on the value and approaches to perform analytics with the aim to help staffs become autonomous relating to analytics.
    • Develop, validate and production the advanced modeling to solve complex business questions.  Build model management framework to continuously monitoring the model technology, governance, development, production and context.

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • 3+ years of data analysis and data extraction experience with diverse and complex data including structured and unstructured data.
    • 5+ years of database knowledge and experience with database management tools such as Microsoft Access, SQL, or Oracle.
    • 5+ years proficient use of data analytics tools (e.g. SQL, R, Python, SAS, H2O.ai, Domino) and other data mining/machine learning tools.
    • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, etc
    • Knowledge of advanced analytics and machine learning concepts and practices (Regression, Decision Tree, SVM, Neural Network, Clustering, and Social Network Analysis)
    • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills around complex business issues.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact within all levels of the organization
    • Proven record of lifelong learning to grow subject knowledge and expertise

    Desirable Criteria

    • Strong leadership, project, and time management skills.
    • Good understanding of Internal Audit practices and skills (i.e., methodology, risk management, internal control knowledge).
