    Job Description

    The Java Platform Enterprise Services team are a technical engineering team building the core Java platform for use in Allstate.

    We are looking for positive, passionate people who thrive in fast-paced, Agile environments. The Lead Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for the development, testing, implementation, and support of innovative web applications designed to automate the J2EE Platform. Key skills required to excel in this role are Java Application Server administration, JavaScript and Python development, and a firm grasp of Agile principles. 

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • Engineer and implement solutions that automate management of the J2EE platform
    • Provide Level 3 operational support for WebSphere Application Server environments
    • Participate and contribute to all phases of development, including coding, defect correction, unit testing, code review, and deployment planning
    • Provide expertise on current standards and cutting-edge technologies and frameworks
    • Lead proof of concept efforts for new technologies and processes
    • Partner closely with product owner to define user requirements
    • Provide sizing estimates for user stories
    • Assist in producing well-documented technical designs

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • Possess 5+ years hands-on development with Java, JavaScript, and/or Python
    • Experience with JSON, REST, and MEAN Stack development
    • Experience supporting Java application servers such as IBM WebSphere
    • Familiar with automation tools including Ansible, Jenkins, and Puppet
    • Up to date on current development standards, including responsive web design
    • Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development and API Driven Development concepts

    Desirable Criteria

    • Comfortable working in an Agile (Scrum) development environment
    • Able to effectively collaborate with peers
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
