    Job Description

    The Systems Engineering team has an opening for a Full Stack Engineer on one of its XP teams based in the CompoZed Lab in Belfast.

    Systems Engineering will leverage contemporary software engineering practices to simplify the developer experience. It will enable our developers to seamlessly conceptualize, design and deliver cutting-edge technology using powerful tools and resources.

    The successful candidate will work as part of a Full Stack development team leveraging a focused product mindset and XP development practices, they will provide solutions in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript (Node.js, React), Java / Spring Framework and Kafka.

    Systems Engineering teams are focused on identifying, designing and delivering innovative solutions for product teams to realize their ideas in production as fast as they can code them

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • Apply best practice design principles including SOLID and 12-factor to all deliverables
    • Safeguarding XP engineering disciplines, specifically TDD and pairing
    • Implement stories defined and prioritized by the product manager
    • Coach junior engineers to help them grow into their roles on the team

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • Have at least 2 years software development experience
    • Be able to demonstrate a passion for learning and learning agility; and
    • Excellent communications skills.

    • Kafka
    • Curiosity and a willingness to learn

    Hours of work:

    • Full Time
    • Core hours are 10am-5pm Mon-Thu, 10am-4pm Fri;
    • Overtime requirements are negligible and not considered part of the XP ethos. On-call commitments are possible however product and platform designs are aimed at keeping this minimal.
