Network Technician

    The post holder will assist in the implementation, development, administration and support of the University’s Network Services. You will provide a high-quality network support service to the staff and students of the University, testing, installing, configuring and maintaining network equipment and related software.  

    You will ensure that communication links and network infrastructure are operational and operating at optimum performance and will ensure a high standard of safety, maintenance and security in all facilities.

    The successful candidate must have: 

    • Academic or vocational qualifications (e.g. NVQ 3, ONC/OND or equivalents in a relevant subject)
    • At least three years professional experience in a similar role which include:
      • Network switch configuration and installation
      • Experience using a network management/monitoring system
      • Modern cabling systems (Cat5e Cat6 and fibre optic cabling)
    • Experience of basic troubleshooting of the network element of common client computing devices (Windows PCs, MACs etc.)

    Salary scale: £24,461 to £28,331 per annum
