    Job Description

    The Allstate's PT Environment team is seeking an Environment Analyst to help build and maintain large WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and Liberty based infrastructure. The WAS Admin and Infrastructure role primarily focuses on the build, deployment, configuration, tuning, maintenance, monitoring and support for high available WAS and Liberty servers.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in large complex WAS environments, solid understanding of Change, Config, Release and Problem Management, strong communication/coordination skills, and an engaged team player. This person is expected to interface and have direct communications with various architectural, application, external client /vendor and systems personnel.

    The candidate is expected to utilize existing company standards and proven best practices in the delivery and support of business objectives as well as participate in their development. The role will need to leverage advanced systems, scripting and developer skills to develop methodologies to implement, integrate, and maintain new and emerging enterprise-wide systems hardware/software technologies.

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • Build, configure, maintain, monitor and support high available WAS and Liberty servers.
    • Deploy code to WAS and Liberty servers.
    • Provide support and trouble shoot large scale WAS and Liberty environments
    • WAS scripting using Jython/Python and Shell to deploy and monitor applications and configurations
    • Provide technical leadership and oversight for complex environment deliverables
    • Consulting services to clients with the ability to understand and assimilate complex cross-discipline, and cross-technology concepts and processes
    • Problem analysis and resolution

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as WAS Administrator on UNIX servers, preferably Linux
    • Knowledge and experience as IBM Liberty Administrator.
    • Knowledge and experience in scripting using Shell
    • Knowledge of WAS internals
    • Knowledge of industry's best practices for WAS/Liberty hosting solutions
    • Application life cycle management
    • Capacity and Performance Analysis
    • Extensive knowledge and experience of building large scale WAS and Liberty environments and hosting platforms

    Desirable Criteria

    • Knowledge with monitoring tools (DynaTrace, Splunk, UEM etc…)
    • Experience using Jython and/or Python
    • Certificate Management
    • F5 (Server Load Balancing), DNS, Firewall, ISAM, Jenkins, Artifactory and GitHub
    • Knowledge of server virtualization, Cloud hosting technologies and Java development

    Hours of work

    • Flexibility to meet business needs as required;
    • Flexibility to extend hours overlapping US hours
    • Flexibility to support early morning hours
    • Flexibility to support on weekend
    • On call support for a week on rotation
