Senior Network Engineer

    The goal of Information Services is to provide the highest quality information services and resources in support of the education and research activities of the students and staff of the University.

    The post holder will work in the Network Group within the Information Services Directorate in support of the University’s teaching, learning, research and administration activities through the development and support of its data communication network. The Senior Network Engineer will lead teams associated with this work, including the Projects team and will assist in the management of the Network Group and the I.T. Systems and Services Division.

    The successful candidate must have:

    • Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.

    • Must demonstrate a good working knowledge and practical experience of network technologies.

    In particular:
    - Switching/Routing (LAN & WAN)
    - Firewalls
    - DHCP/DNS

    • Substantial experience in managing and implementing extensive network development programmes in a large university or commercial network environment.

    • Demonstrable ability to design and integrate solutions using modern network and security technologies at the enterprise level.

    • Experience of scalable network architecture design, route dissemination, high availability design and address management.

    • Experience of developing and managing network visibility, management and control systems.

    • Experience of administering a large number of UNIX/LINUX and network systems.

    Salary scale: £40,792 - £50,132 per annum (potential to progress to £53,175 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
