The Team
At Aflac Northern Ireland, we are building a diverse, multi-function Cyber Security Team to support our Global Security Program protecting our customers in the US & Japan. The Aflac NI Security Team has taken ownership of key components of the Aflac Security Program and is integrating with the Global Security Team to strengthen existing functions and build new capabilities.
We have built a modern authentication platform that enables Aflac’s Policyholders to federate as needed to multiple internal applications from a single login site. This team has recently implemented Passkey, a passwordless login solution and received a CSO50 award which recognises organisations for security projects and initiatives demonstrating outstanding business value and thought leadership.
The Role
You will be responsible for building solutions that re-imagine the customer experience at Aflac and for the definition of products and services allow us to securely enrol, service, and support policy holders, while reducing cybercrime risk and cost to the enterprise. Our goal is to deliver class-leading authentication with flexible and agile integration into partner applications while ensuring that we focus on customer experience.

At Aflac, we are all about customer care and the customer experience and we’re looking for a talented, dynamic, inquisitive, and skilled Product Owner to help us grow our expertise in policy holder authentication as part of Aflac’s Client Experience. You will drive change, spearheading Aflac’s journey from on-premise to the Cloud. As a Product Owner at Aflac you will be part of a Product practitioner community where we share best practices through a Community of Practice.
What you’ll be doing
- Define the product vision and strategy for Policy Holder & Channel Authentication, ensuring alignment with business objectives and security standards.
- Influence your teammates, as well as colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives, through your use of research, analytics and collaboration.
- Develop, maintain and evangelise an outcome-based product roadmap that reflects the priorities of the organisation and adapts to evolving business needs and technical capabilities.
- Own the product backlog, working with cross-functional stakeholders to gather, refine, and prioritise requirements and provide the necessary context & detail required at a feature level to empower the team to create user stories.
- Lead and participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, ensuring continuous delivery of products and features while addressing any blockers or issues that may impede the development process.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to products and features including their effectiveness, performance, and ROI.
- Be transparent in keeping stakeholders informed about product progress, changes & provide rationale for key decisions.
- Proactively engage with end-users to gather feedback and iterate on product improvements.
- Advocate for the end-users by ensuring that security measures are user-friendly and do not hinder productivity.
- Collect and analyse feedback to drive continuous improvement of the products and stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats, technologies, and product management trends.
- Track industry trends, relevant to the competitive landscape as they pertain to your products.
What you should have

Essential
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Computing, Marketing, Design, or STEM subject. Comparable commercial experience may also be considered.
- Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.
- 4+ years working on technology-powered products as a Product Owner or Product Manager
- Excellent leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams and drive product initiatives.
- An ability to empathise deeply with customer problems, so you always feel a strong sense of urgency to solve them and motivate others to solve them with you.
- Ability to analyse complex business and security challenges and translate them into prioritised, actionable product features balancing technical security requirements with business objectives and user experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams and are comfortable presenting to stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated knowledge of product discovery practices including human-centred design, design thinking, brainstorming approaches, and advanced facilitation techniques
Desirable Criteria
- Experience delivering projects that support enrolment and authentication and a strong understanding of online security, cyber, and fraud solutions.
- Experience with the Microsoft technology stack with knowledge of C# and the .NET framework.
- Understanding of the federated identity concepts, single sign on, SAML, OAuth/OIDC, JWT and preferred experience with Ping Identity suite (PingFederate, PingAccess and PingID)
- Experience in developing actionable metrics and KPIs related to technology products and features.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills to lead workshops.
- Experience migrating workloads from on prem to AWS.
- Experience with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Lucid or similar platforms.
- Knowledge and experience of DevOps as part of Agile software development
