  Who you’ll be working with: 

  Liberty IT’s Data Science group partner directly with business stakeholders and the global Office of Data Science to create solutions for large business problems. Our Data Scientists research and apply advanced techniques in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning and Computer Vision to understand how we can utilise data across all components of insurance, for example in managing risk, and build solutions that enable Liberty Mutual to achieve this.  

  You will get the opportunity to learn from experienced Data Scientists and to coach and mentor junior Data Scientists. 

  Experience and skills we need: 

  • A third level qualification in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or another quantitative field.  
  • A minimum of one years’ postgraduate relevant Data Science experience in a commercial environment or completed a PhD with one year’s relevant industry engagement or research experience in a Data Science role.  
  • Experience in creating, deploying and tuning complex, non-linear predicitive models to solve business problems using Python and associated Data Science tooling. 
  • Exposure and knowledge of big data concepts, strategies, methodologies and tools such as MongoDB, Snowflake, Spark or Hadoop. 
  • Experience in technical communication with peers and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Knowledge and experience of deploying enterprise scale data science products using a range of MLOps tools and methodologies. 
  • Exposure to or knowledge of emerging Generative AI tools, technologies and approaches. 
  • Active participation in knowledge sharing activities, both within the team and with wider non-technical audiences. 

  What you’ll be doing: 

   

  • Take a customer-centric approach to deliver real value and solve complex business problems 
  • Communicate and collaborate with your full team about how the tools and analytical models you work on can contribute to the success of the project. 
  • Work with customers to analyze their business problems, drive out requirements and, working in a team, deliver predictive modelling and meaningful recommendations that meet a real business need.  
  • Apply sophisticated statistical techniques to very large data sets in the course of predictive modelling and various analytical projects. 
  • Have input across all data preparation steps, including extraction, integration and the creation of derived variables to ensure the application of business rules checks and implement quality control checks. 
  • Ensure accuracy through the implementation of a variety of approaches and mechanisms in line with best practices. 
  • Apply team best practices and share approaches with other team members on areas such as style, documentation and code management.  
  • Grow your knowledge in all components of the Data Science life cycle. 
  • Actively seek opportunities for you and your team to collaborate with and learn from our technical people across our organization through internal networks, events and communities of practice
