  • How You'll Support Our Mission:

    Our Suite and Tools Product team enables new clients to onboard onto ESO software seamlessly, as well as upgrading existing clients to newer, more powerful products. This is a new team in our growing Belfast office and we are conducting greenfield research and development with our frontend application in Angular and backend Azure serverless APIs in C#.

    Software Development Engineers in Test are core to the success of our release strategy. As teams move more to CI/CD, seamless deployment of code, gated by stringent automated testing and verified by automated smoke tests is required to reduce human intervention and ensure confidence in our applications. At ESO, SDETs are embedded in teams leading the drive to improve quality through test automation. 

    What You’ll Be Doing – the day to day: 

    • Design, plan, and execute test plans and test cases for ESO’s SaaS and mobile products. (Your work will be essential to ensuring that our product offerings meet and exceed our customer’s expectations by testing all tiers in our distributed application stack.)
    • Verify data flows within applications, test on a variety of device types (web, mobile), as well as verify proper software behaviour at various levels (UI, API, backend).  (You should be comfortable integrating automation tests within CI/CD pipelines and be familiar with non-functional requirements such as performance and load testing.)
    • Practice continuous integration embrace open-source software and make informed technology and product decisions. (We are an Agile development shop and regularly demo our work to project stakeholders.)
    • Work with talented SDETs using the latest tools and technologies to automate testing and provide quality of products to our customers. (Team members are empowered to champion new tools that provide richer functionalities or cut down test development time.)

    Who You Are - some of the essential things required to be successful in the role: 

    • Five plus years of experience in software testing activities including test planning, execution, monitoring, defect tracking, and test reporting
    • Writing automated tests across the entire application stack (Java/C# & Javascript/Typescript)
    • Creating and maintaining automation frameworks 
    • Experience of Cypress/Selenium
    • Git for source control
    • Mentoring other SDETS
    You should also have;
    • A deep understanding of OO concepts
    • Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts
    • Well-versed in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment practices
    • A deep understanding of testing philosophy (e.g. the test pyramid)

    Who You Are – it’s desirable if you have any of the following; 

    • Experience of Microservice architectures  
    • Exposure to Cloud Platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP)
    • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing and CQRS patterns
