Role Overview:
Citi’s ‘ICG Site Reliability Engineers (SRE) EMEA’ are hands-on technical professionals supporting Citi’s EMEA Application teams. They also work closely with our global team with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.
Skills:
- Experience writing code in Java, Python or similar
- Experience working with databases (such as SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB etc)
- Understanding of containers, microservices and APIs
- Experience of CICD and configuration management
- Passion for continuous improvement and simplicity
- Desire to automate manual, repetitive work
- Curious to learn new concepts and skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyse and break down problems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt content/delivery to different audiences
- Excellent time management and accountability
Nice to haves:
- Chaos Engineering, Fault Injection and War Gaming
- Testing tools (Selenium, PyTest, Junit, Cucumber)
- Experience implementing SLI, SLO and error budgets
- Kubernetes, Openshift, Ansible, Docker, Jenkins
- IaC, SaaS, observability-as-code
- Serverless architectures
- Process flow tools
- Jira, Bitbucket
Responsibilities:
Citi Site Reliability Engineers (SRE) run the services for our users and are ultimately responsible for the heath of these services.
You will be:
- Building out observability
- Managing capacity, configuration and CoB
- Suggesting and implementing service improvements
- Championing business interests by ensuring services are always available
- Managing the platform to free up our developers to focus on deliverables instead of support
- Undertaking incident management, response and root cause analysis
- Setting and ensuring we meet availability targets
- Coordinating releases with app teams
- Using tools to track and report on initiatives
Experience:
· Programming/scripting background and desire to build on these skills.
· Clear written and verbal communications including ability to explain technical issues in simple terms that non-IT staff can understand.
· Demonstrable analytical and technical skills
· Ability to plan and organize workload
· Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Education:
· Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
· Certification in Site Reliability Engineering discipline, technology or relevant work experience
