    Team Overview

    Citi’s Legal Department in Belfast is a team of approximately 170 staff, covering a range of products and services across Citi’s Europe Middle East and Africa region (known as “EMEA”). 

    The Belfast Legal Department provides a range of services, support and advice to many business areas with a particular focus on Citi’s Institutional Client Group, incorporating transaction negotiation, master agreement negotiation, and oversight of compliance and regulatory requirements.

    An opportunity has arisen in the Belfast Markets Legal Department for a prominent business analyst and legal engineer supporting certain businesses within Citi’s Institutional Client Group.

    Role Overview

    We are collecting and using more data than ever before and our vision is to create an in-house legal tech team that can analyse existing data and partner with our legal subject matter experts and Technology Innovation Lab to drive improvements in data collection, contract analysis and review, contract repapering & outreach as well as assist with aspects of legal transformation.

    Responsibilities include

    • Working with the Technology Innovation Lab to build workflows and support user testing of internal or vendor applications on behalf of Legal

    • Analysing, cleansing and visualising data to identify trends for management

    • Translating legal requirements into technological solutions to minimise manual legal intervention for regulatory outreaches and improve processes

    • Working on the build and running of workflows to support contract preparation, negotiation, and execution to support repapering programmes

    • Formally documenting processes using Microsoft tools (including Visio), using proficient Microsoft excel skills

    • Participating in workshops to support the delivery of clause extraction; running contact digitisation tools; development of life cycle technological tools and improving straight through processing to data repositories

    Qualifications / Skills

    • An undergraduate degree in a STEM, Business or Law related discipline e.g., Legal technology, Computing, Computer Forensics or Artificial Intelligence.

    • Experience of implementing legal technological solutions and working on transformation projects such as contract review, drafting, negotiation and execution

    • A passion for digitisation, strong logical reasoning skills, attention to detail and developed problem-solving skills.

    • A self-driven, team player who is able to demonstrate determination in the face of a challenge

    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
