    Your role in the team

     

     

    The Data Marketplace team is a critical team within Allstate Technology and Strategic Ventures driving critical data governance and cataloging across the enterprise.   To truly transform data-driven decision-making at Allstate the team has been tasked with operationalizing a robust solution for connecting data consumers and producers into a collaborative marketplace that facilitates PI and non-PI data identification and access across all Areas of Responsibility and Market-Facing Businesses.

     

    The Data Management Lead Consultant role plays a leading role in driving the operationalization and adoption of the marketplace across the enterprise.  The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the team’s execution on complex, high priority initiatives with data management and data privacy compliance impacts to the enterprise. This role requires innovative thinking to enable key capabilities and onboard the user community to an automated data management and data provisioning solution.

     

    Successful execution of this role will require an ability to juggle technical and people-process objectives.  Cataloging and privacy management is handled on a variety of data sources independently managed by different groups.  Supporting the different areas will require an ability to interface with technical enablers, architecture, business owners and leaders in different areas to drive adoption and technical support.  A strong product mindset coupled with excellent communication skills are required to effectively influence multiple levels of leadership to deliver on prioritized business outcomes.

     

    A strong emphasis is placed on delivering capabilities that enable management of data definitions and taxonomies, metadata curation for critical data assets, business data flows, technical data lineage, sensitive data discovery, and enabling data privacy compliance. Allstate’s innovative approach to data governance involves cutting-edge solutions involving vended and homegrown capabilities.  Rolling out in a self-service model will involve gaining organic buy-in that reduces technical hurdles and promotes excitement/engagement from the user community.

     

     

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

     

     

    • Proactively contribute to the common vision and communication, including living into the enterprise commitment of treating data as a corporate asset.
    • Translate business requirements to enable data management capabilities around creating, curating, and managing data definitions and taxonomies, datastore structural information, business data flows, technical data lineage, and sensitive data discovery in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
    • Facilitate information gathering sessions to onboard and support user community. Partner with user community to align on which data management solutions meet their needs
    • Develop and author data management process documentation to educate the user community of best practices and provide guidance and recommendations on implementation.
    • Partner with team members to produce high-quality people onboarding and technical walk-through documentation in the form of Playbooks, Job Aids, Training Courses, How-Tos and Video Tutorials.
    • Drive problem solving and issue resolution to ensure task completion by establishing priorities and resolving conflicts with team members, functional mangers, and senior leaders.
    • Identify technology and process constraints, driving mitigation strategies for complex and/or critically important initiatives.
    • Troubleshoot technical errors occurring between a variety of data stores and Informatica toolsets to support community of users.
    • Manage complex work through a cohesive plan that outlines objectives, timelines, risks, and deliverables, ensuring the most important work moves forward. Proactively and clearly communicate risks, issues, and status to leadership at multiple levels.
    • Function as a subject matter expert (SME) for data management best practices, including data definitions and taxonomies, metadata management of critical data assets, business data flows, technical data lineage, sensitive data discovery, and data privacy compliance.
    • Lead the research and development of data profiling rules by investigating company-specific as well as industry requirements surrounding pattern recognition to create Regular Expressions, Look-up Tables, Rule Maplets and other logic to enable proactive PI and non-PI data discovery.

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • 5 years business experience working with information technology, databases or data management tools
    • Familiarity with technical troubleshooting of applications, platforms or configurations etc.
    • Advanced ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex and ambiguous projects given aggressive timelines; comfortable performing in a fast paced, dynamic business environment
    • Advanced ability to develop and/or revise tactics to support changing strategies and direction
    • Sound experience with data management technologies or toolsets such as Informatica AXON, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, Informatica Data Privacy Manager, Collibra Data Intelligence, Alation Data Catalog Platform, Atlas, Infosphere
    • Applicants must be willing and eligible to travel to the USA.

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • A degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a discipline such as business, math, computer science or equivalent experience
    • Experience working in Informatica’s product toolsets including: Axon, Enterprise Data Catalog, Data Privacy Manager, Data Quality and Developer
    • Familiarity with researching and building pattern recognition rules for profiling/data discovery including via Regular Expressions, Lookup Tables and Maplets.
