‘Social Media for Good’ is the second podcast series brought to you by Sync NI, in which journalist Niamh Campbell talks with people across Northern Ireland that are using their social media platforms to inspire, motivate and spread positivity.
Self-isolation can take a toll on a person's mental health, but people like Lee Chestnutt from Coleraine are helping spread awareness and advice surrounding these issues through online platforms.
Through his Instagram (@mentalhealthbylee), Lee has spent the last two years sharing his own battles with mental health, having tried to take his own life seven years ago. He is also a disability union rep and is currently studying for a degree in Communications with Counselling, despite being convinced he would never go to university due to his struggles with dyslexia and dyspraxia.
The podcast is also available on Spotify and on iTunes/Apple Podcasts when you search Sync NI, along with all previous episodes. Make sure to subscribe/follow for updates on new episodes also!
If you are struggling with mental health issues or illnesses, you can find guidance and support through charities such as Aware NI, Mind and Inspire. First and foremost, if you are suffering, make sure you seek professional help through your GP or another trusted health professional.
