There are lots of people who could do great things with his data - but therein lies the problem - he has lots of identity information for his online visitors but when they arrive on the island they fall off a cliff and it’s only if he happens to trip over them at a particular event or attraction that he actually knows they’re here.
So there are 2 main thrusts / requirements for filling this data vacuum:
- understanding at an aggregated / macro level the behaviours of our tourism visitors - where / for how long etc... this is to help inform the tourist industry and our NITB planning
- the ability to interact with individuals in real time - pushing content / promotions to them
There are lots of strands to this but Dave is particularly interested in some of the early / infrastructure steps and the providers in this area. There must be some opportunities around IoT technologies so the objective of this Meetup is to get people thinking and talking (Dave will outline the next steps on the day). (Register here).
