OWASP Belfasts' February session will cover an application security favourite topic - what can automated tools find, and where are they completely useless?
In this talk we'll cover the types of commercial and open source security tools, talk about their strengths and weaknesses, and reveal some very interesting research Uleska and partners have done in this area to highlight the gaps that any one security tool will have in finding all security issues.
Using the industry standard OWASP ASVS (Advanced Security Verification Standard) as a reference, we'll shed light on the percentage coverage of common tools, and how massive gaps can appear in typical security testing programs.
This talk will be given by Uleska, the Belfast local software securing company working and researching in this area. Uleska will also be sponsoring pizza and beers on the night.
We're also trying out a brand new city center venue for the talk, StepSpace -
https://stepspace.com/location/ , so come along for an interesting talk, free pizza and beers, and a chance to nosey at a new location.
