Northern Ireland Aerospace Companies recognised for Business Excellence

  • At the Farnborough International Airshow, Northern Ireland ADS members were awarded one third of the prestigious SC21 Business Excellence Awards and 70% of the SC21 Gold Awards.

    The Supply Chains for the 21st Century (SC21) programme is a voluntary programme designed to accelerate the performance and competitiveness of the aerospace and defence sector supply chains and is coordinated by ADS. 

    Becoming a participant in the programme is free of charge and is endorsed by the Aerospace Growth Partnership, Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy, Invest NI, and the Ministry of the Defence, as well as leading aerospace and defence companies.

    To achieve a gold award a company must have more than 99% on time delivery performance and 99.9% quality performance as well as scoring more than 500 points in Business, Manufacturing and Relationship Excellence.

    The NI companies achieving the Gold Awards are: Moyola Precision Engineering Ltd from Castledawson, Denroy Plastics Ltd from Bangor, IPC Mouldings Ltd from Carrickfergus, RTA Ireland Ltd from Kilkeel and Technical Metals Ltd from Newtownards.

    When asked about the reason for the Northern Ireland success, Dr Leslie Orr, ADS NI Director said: “Northern Ireland organisations are supported by the regional PRIMEs who are committed to developing their suppliers through the programme which promotes and fosters a culture of excellence and quality in Northern Ireland organisations, delivering what the customer requires.”

    Colin Hart, ADS Head of SC21 also added: “The SC21 programme showcases the United Kingdom as a leading nation for supply chain excellence, and the region of Northern Ireland continues to maintain its outstanding reputation.”
