Belfast based architectural wall cladding specialist Spanwall is one of the sponsors of the ground-breaking Seismic demonstrator building which launched in Watford last week.
Seismic, created to help drive a shift towards Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), have developed a platform-based approach for construction projects using the latest in digital and manufacturing technologies.
Following the success of the first phase, which transformed the way school projects are designed, procured and constructed, through standardised offsite construction, Seismic II was created offering a full solution for clients across a range of sectors.
Using advanced technology, Sesimic creates a standard frame to which core components can be added to, including wall, flooring, ceiling, and roof elements. The finished product consists of a building cluster made up of interconnecting modules bound together through highly engineered processes.

The pioneering technology, developed in line with the principles of the UK government’s Construction 2025 strategy, simplifies the design and construction process whilst cutting costs by up to 25%. Fuelled by a host of environmental credentials, the software is also helping to pave the route to a more sustainable industry, boasting a 75% better efficiency and speed rating as well as 70% lower carbon impact.
The ground-breaking SEISMIC demonstrator building showcases some exemplar architectural metalwork produced by Spanwall Facades who has delivered a wide range of specialist cladding solutions to projects in more than a dozen countries over the past 55 years.
Using the latest 3D design tools, Spanwall’s design team produced a set of complex geometric shaped panels for the building’s feature balcony to the front elevation, replicating the panels Spanwall created for the iconic Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast.

Feature panels with a bespoke perforated pattern to create the signature of Seismic to the side elevations were also produced, helping to demonstrate the ability of smart façade design to complement the standardised offsite system that the Seismic team have developed.
Spanwall is proud to be involved in this landmark project.
