Belfast software company WANdisco has introduced a four-day work week for its staff.
The company, which also has offices in the UK and US, now allows all employees to put in a 40-hour working week spread over four days rather than five.
Employees of the company will have their contracted salary and benefits stay the same on the shorter working week.
Although the majority of staff are expected to choose Friday as their default non-working day, the scheme is flexible and people can do whatever works for them.

WANdisco initially banned meetings on a Friday afternoon at the start of the pandemic, which they say led to increased productivity. They expect this shift in the working model to boost productivity and increase well being for their staff.
Speaking about the changes, David Richards, Chief Executive and Co-Founder of WANdisco, said: “The pandemic has taught us many things, but perhaps none more important than the reality that we can work smarter, better and more efficiently, and that’s exactly what this move represents.”

The company currently employs 45 members of staff at their offices in Belfast’s Gasworks.
