Belfast Met student Laura Black is winner of the 2021 Peter Roberts Bursary award

  • HND Business graduate Laura Black from Lisburn has just been awarded the Peter Roberts Bursary which celebrates outstanding achievement in the further education sector. 

    Having completed Levels 2-5 in Business at the College, Laura has embodied the spirit of the award by demonstrating tremendous resilience in overcoming adversity as well as a strong commitment to learning and skills development. This national award was also won by Oskar Wilson from Chichester College.

    Visiting Belfast yesterday to award the cheque to Laura were Ian Pretty, Chief Executive at Collab Group and Peter McCann, Chair of the Skills Network who presented the bursary, expressed how impressed they had been by her application.

    Louise Warde Hunter, Principal and Chief Executive at Belfast Met, said: ”We would like to congratulate Laura on receiving this award due to her commitment, determination and hard work. This is an outstanding achievement, and we are very proud of Laura who has persevered with her studies during the last challenging eighteen months.”

    Laura Black, HND Level 5 Business student at Belfast Met, confirmed: “I’m so pleased to have received this bursary which is an acknowledgment of how I have overcome adversity and a lot of challenges during my school and college years. I’m delighted to receive this help as I enter the final year of a degree in Business Management at the University of Ulster.

    Laura also added: "I will be forever grateful to Belfast Met and my lecturer's for guiding and supporting me."
