Climate action start-up hiring for two new software development roles

  • Climate action is at a tipping point. There is increasing pressure and desire for sustainable action, however, carbon management is complex, time-consuming, and expensive.

    Climax is a rapidly growing start-up with a mission to catalyse action to fight climate change. Their aim is to empower individuals, households, small businesses and public authorities by creating a global community that is taking control of their carbon footprint.

    They are using cutting edge algorithms to drive awareness, knowledge, and action to avoid and reduce carbon emissions.

    The company have developed a software platform (SaaS) called Climate Essentials which is an easy, engaging and affordable tool for households and SMEs to access their own interactive carbon management plan. Here they can measure their carbon footprint, access a carbon reduction plan and connect with the community to discuss and share climate information.

    Larger organisations (i.e., local authority, municipality, or trade associations) are then able to access an analytics dashboard comprising of their own business ecosystem, enabling the visualisation of regional and sectoral carbon emissions, amongst other functionalities.

    Climax is currently made up of a small team who are extremely dedicated to solving the climate crisis, which they see as today’s most pressing problem. The company have a diverse team from a variety of backgrounds, they are looking to welcome employees into an exciting and fast-paced working environment. 

    The company are looking to hire two software developers to join their expanding team on their journey to aid the transition to a net zero economy.

    The Belfast-based roles are:

    • Front End Software Developer: The front-end software developer will have the ability to enhance the user experience and boost functionality through their knowledge of HTML5, CSS, LESS, JavaScript, React JS, Bootstrap, and Node JS. You will be collaborating with the back-end team as well as the product development team to ensure consistency and usability across the platform.

    • Back End Software Developer: With a strong understanding and experience of Java/J2EE using the object-oriented development methodology, the Back End Developer will be responsible for the server-side web logic, and work to improve current back-end applications and processes.
