Down physiotherapy clinic opens second practice with support from Danske

  • Northern Ireland back pain and headache clinic Active Health has secured a £65,000 loan from Danske Bank to support the opening of its new practice in Springhill Retail Park in Bangor.

The North Down based physiotherapy clinic has been providing essential services in its new practice for podiatry and physio since June. Following the support from Danske, the practice initially opened in March 2020 ahead of the first government lockdown but was then forced to close.

Since reopening in June, Active Health has expanded its workforce and is currently hiring four new employees. David and Rachel Saligari opened Active Health’s first practice in Holywood in 2007 after returning from living in Australia.

Rachel said: “We’re excited to be growing our team to cope with the increased demand for physio services in Bangor. We provide a holistic service to keep people active and healthy, and it has become clear during the pandemic that this has never been more important."

The support Danske Bank has provided allowed us to open the second clinic and continue to provide high quality care for our customers across North Down.”

Gareth Kerr, Business Manager at Danske Bank said: “Active Health is a great example of the dynamic businesses in Northern Ireland coming up with creative initiatives to provide for its customers, even during the pandemic.

"During the initial closure, the practice provided support services including Zoom classes and Zoom clinics and in the summer months, they hosted pilates classes in walled gardens. We’ve continued to support the practice through-out the Covid pandemic and we’re delighted that they are embarking on the next stage of their journey as they continued to provide essential physio and podiatry services.”
