NI full fibre broadband provider, Fibrus has pledged its support for local charity, PIPS Suicide Prevention Ireland as their 2021 Charity of the Year is announced.
Speaking at the launch of the partnership, Terri Johnston, Chief People Officer at Fibrus said: “Our workforce has grown rapidly over the last 12 months and it is really important to us that our team feels supported, both physically and emotionally, and has the opportunity to give back where we can.
“As well as fundraising to assist local support services, we want our employees to take care of themselves and to know where they can get help when they need it, to be aware of the signs if people around them are struggling and most importantly to realise that they are never alone.
“The work that PIPS Charity does in supporting people in their darkest hour is incredible, so we are delighted to be able to pledge our support for such a worthy and essential cause.”
As part of the partnership, the Fibrus team will be organising several fundraising initiatives, including a virtual relay race, and soon hope to be able to host events together, such as charity bake offs and a company family fun day if regulations allow.

Renée Quinn, Executive Director at PIPS Charity added: “Caring and compassion is at the heart of our ethos. I’m very proud that despite the challenges we are facing and with the support of businesses like Fibrus, we have managed to maintain delivery of our counselling services. During this lockdown we are open, providing face to face counselling, telephone counselling and befriending services for anyone that needs us.
“Our commitment will always be to providing our unique ‘Open Door Policy’, where no appointment is needed if you are in distress. You can call into our offices and there will always be someone to talk if you feel vulnerable, might be at risk of suicidal behaviours or you are simply in need of assistance/guidance. I firmly believe, during this current moment in time, that open door approach is more important than ever. You simply can’t ask people to put a pause on their mental ill-health.”
Fibrus is currently delivering hyper fast broadband services to rural and regional parts of Northern Ireland. Terri concluded: "Enabling communities and individuals to stay connected with others is at the heart of what we do at Fibrus. We place huge importance on ensuring people do not feel isolated - whether that’s in business or in their personal lives - so we look forward to a successful year supporting PIPS Charity.”
