  • Irish medtech start-up Frankie Health has raised $1.25m US (£918,619) in seed funding for its mental health app.

Mental health across the country has suffered due to the Covid pandemic, and not only due to the stressful circumstances we find ourselves in and the large numbers of people made redundant recently. Some therapists have been forced to stop taking sessions with clients and hospital referrals have been slow.

Dublin-based start-up Frankie Health is developing a mental health app for businesses that connects their employees with therapists, with the aim of helping businesses promote wellbeing during the pandemic.

The platform is free to use for therapists, who deliver personalised exercises designed to reduce stress and burnout. The app also uses end-to-end encryption to ensure privacy.

The company has now raised $1.25m US in a seed-funding round led by Hong Kong based venture capital firm E15 VC, which will be used to create 20 new roles across its engineering, design, and marketing departments. The new roles will be created over the next year and a half.
