Irish AI and Robotics firm wins Best Overall Start-up at Enterprise Ireland awards

  • Artificial intelligence and robotics company Iamus Technologies has won an award for its AgriTech solution that helps farmers and processors reduce costs.

Irish tech firm Iamus Technologies is based out of NovaUCD, the research and innovation hub attached to University College Dublin that supports spin-out companies based on local research. The company has won the Best Overall Start-up award at the recent 2020 Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena Awards, and was one of several AgriTech firms to be highlighted by the event.

Iamus develops data-driven solutions for the Agri-Tech sector, with the goal of empowering farmers and agricultural processors to reduce their costs and increase efficiency. The firm is currently working with a major poultry processor to continuously gather data from birds to help the processor make decisions that could reduce costs.

This year's awards took place virtually for the first time. Over 60 entries were boiled down to a shortlist of the top 30 companies, which were then invited to pitch their innovations to a judging panel online.

Iamus Technologies CEO Shane Kiernan commented on the win: "We are delighted to have been named winner of the Best Start-Up Award at this year’s Innovation Arena Awards. It is a fantastic endorsement for a young agri-tech start-up such as Iamus. Our aim is to provide real-time actionable insights to our customers that empowers animal welfare and productivity improvements disrupting the multi-billon euro poultry industry.”

Tom Flanagan, UCD Director of Enterprise and Commercialisation was delighted to see Iamus Technologies win the award: "The company has made great progress at NovaUCD and participated in our 5G Vodafone/Ericsson accelerator programme last year. We are progressing with our plans to develop the €4 million AgTech Connector Innovation Hub at UCD Lyons Farm and we look forward to working with and supporting more innovative AgTech companies, similar to Iamus Technologies, that have global ambition."
