BelTech conference to go virtual for the first time and will be free to attend

  • BelTech is going virtual this year for its seventh annual conference, and will be free to attend but with a limited number of spaces.

The annual BelTech conference has become an important annual part of the NI tech calendar, bringing together people from across different tech disciplines to hear from a lineup of top speakers. The seventh event will take place this year between Monday 22nd June and Thursday 25th June, and this time it will be taking place entirely online.

BelTech 2020 will have a particular focus on the role the tech sector has played throughout the COVID-19 lockdown and what local tech firms can do to help the economy bounce-back in a post-COVID-19 world. The event is being sponsored by Allstate NI, Options Technology, Invest NI, Hays Recruitment, Expleo Group Digital Labs, Unisquare, and Belfast City Council.

Chief Technology Officer at Kainos and Beltech Lead Curator Tom Gray commented on the event: "When the pandemic struck, we decided to postpone the conference, however it became clear quite quickly that it would be a long time before we could host BelTech again in the usual way. It feels like a natural progression for us to move the event online, meaning we can reach more people and encourage wider learning and sharing of knowledge."

Belfast Lord Mayor Alderman Frank McCoubrey said "Tech is such a strong sector of our city’s economy and we have ambitions to become genuinely world class in digital innovation, with investment from the Belfast Region City Deal. For that to happen, we need to facilitate engagement, collaboration and knowledge sharing between businesses, education and our public sector – BelTech plays a key role in that."

The event will be free to attend this year, but the number of spots is limited, so head over to www.beltech.co to sign up.
