Belfast-based startup ARMOUR has launched a new software platform designed to simplify legal compliance and regulatory standards for SMEs.
One of the barriers many new businesses come up against is the complicated world of business legislation. There are countless legal requirements businesses will need to be aware of, from data protection and keeping adequate records on staff to health and safety compliance and environmental standards.
Belfast-based startup ARMOUR has launched a new software platform that aims to simplify the legal compliance process and help avoid costly penalties, fines, or legal actions. The platform will identify a company's regulatory compliance needs and keep track of any changes to the law that might change it.
Users will be able to create a business profile detailing their business functions and locations, and will then gets a report identifying what their business needs to do to. The platform is designed to keep track of Health and Safety Law, Environmental Law and Employment Law and has now been released for Northern Ireland. Further rollout to the rest of the UK and the Republic of Ireland in the coming weeks.
Access to the platform is charged at £50 per month on an annual basis, and the company is offering a free 14-day trial of the platform to companies in Northern Ireland. As part of its support for firms during the COVID-19 outbreak, the company has also developed a hub offering free advice from industry bodies such as HSE NI, Manufacturing NI, CEF NI.
ARMOUR was founded by CEO Charlene Armour after she saw other businesses struggle with legal jargon and sourcing affordable legal documentation for their specific business needs. Charlene commented on the launch: "If you don’t know what you’re liable for, how can you protect your employees and your business? Complying with legislation doesn’t need to be the complicated, expensive, document-heavy process that it currently can be. Upholding your legal responsibilities as a business should be a simple, affordable and practical process. That’s where ARMOUR adds real value."
"Unfortunately, I have seen some businesses who failed to comply with laws lose up to £1 million in prosecution fees, injury claims, increases to their insurance premiums and legal fees. In addition, negative incidences can cause irreparable damage to a business’s reputation."
