Recent events have seen communities come together in ways never seen before. At Version 1, our ethos has always been to work towards building a stronger and better community in the locations in which we operate, and there’s never been a more important time to stand together in the face of these unprecedented times.
In response, our Northern Ireland team undertook a “Together We Are Stronger” campaign to raise funds in support of our customer, Queen’s University Belfast, who are proudly creating protective shields for front-line NHS staff. Academic researchers at the college are pursuing two parallel technologies to help meet the demand for personal protective equipment in the fight against the coronavirus, with Doctors from the School of Pharmacy having designed protective shield masks that can be produced using a 3D printer.
In under 24 hours, our NI team gained enough funding to provide 750 new shields for the community. Alongside our own staff, other Version 1 customers in NI have contributed over £1800 to the great cause. Head of Operations NI, Lorna McAdoo, was thrilled to get involved with the initiative. “We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed towards this campaign – it’s a very worthy, timely and important cause. The great work of those in Queen’s University will undoubtedly help improve the working situation for our dedicated front-line NHS staff and all those risking their health to mind others during this pandemic.”
With our people working remotely the team was also keen to get their families and children involved and held a colouring competition with images of support for the NHS. These were shared online to raise awareness of the cause and campaign.
A sincere thank you to all involved, from all of us here at Version 1.
