  • Bank of Ireland UK has developed a new service to help older and vulnerable people access cash for daily essentials such as groceries and medical supplies during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Customers who are already self-isolating – or who may need to in the coming weeks and months – can nominate another person to make in-branch cash withdrawals on their behalf. Customers who wish to avail of this service can call 0800 783 8591 (9.30 am – 4.30 pm).

The opening hours of all Bank of Ireland UK branches in Northern Ireland have temporarily changed to 10am – 2pm from Monday – Friday, due to the ongoing coronavirus situations and a significant fall in the number of customers visiting branches.

A prioritised service for over 65’s and carers is being provided between 10am-11am each day.

Ian McLaughlin, CEO of Bank of Ireland UK said: “Many of our customers find themselves particularly vulnerable at the moment and relying more than ever on the help and support of others. ‘Cocooning Support’ gives them one less thing to worry about, during what is a really challenging time.”

He encouraged all Bank of Ireland customers to keep visiting the bank’s UK Covid-19 Customer Hub to keep up to date with all its latest information and full range of supports for both personal and business customers.
