The Ulster University Shark Tank competition has returned this year, with prizes worth £2500 up for grabs.

Ran by the university’s students’ union, the programme has a Dragon’s Den-esque format. Applicants will pitch their business proposals to innovation experts and company founders from across Northern Ireland known as ‘sharks’.

Prizes include a £2500 tech prize and a non-tech prize of the same value.

Haru Ltd won the competition in 2019; a third-party platform to enable charity shops to accurately price, upload and sell items online.

Last year’s panel of sharks included Jennifer McWilliams, manager at Antrim Enterprise Agency and Prof Jonathan Wallace, professor of innovation at UU.

Applications for this year’s cohort close at 12pm tomorrow and the final pitch day will happen at the university’s Coleraine campus on Friday 20 March.
