IT and finance specialist recruitment firm Altra Executives will be creating new future jobs with the launch of its Coleraine office this Monday.
The firm’s managing director and former nurse Fiona Cameron told Sync NI the new office comes as there is now a higher demand for jobs and businesses across the north coast and Derry/Londonderry.
Fiona started the business in London five years ago from her living room, then set up a second office in Belfast’s River House last year.
The company matches IT and finance professionals with global brands such as Jimmy Choo and Cosmopolitan. Fiona said: “Every company has an internal finance and technology team so we help them recruit in their time of need; whether it’s a restructure, systems implementation or if they’re building a new app.”
She previously spotted a gap in the Northern Ireland market to encourage candidates to come ‘back home’ and combat the current local tech skills shortage.

The entrepreneur told Belfast Live: “There are so many hundreds of outstanding jobs here, especially on the tech side. We want to position ourselves in the market to fulfil that need and bring new people in instead of shuffling the same people around from one agency to the next. We want to bring in fresh blood so to speak.
"We’re doing a Bring Them Back campaign at the minute which is focusing on people from the US, and Australia – people who get to thirty and think ‘I miss the family I want to go home."
With Altra Executives’ newest expansion, it appears this approach is working. Fiona wants to share her own determination with recruitment applicants, as she explained: “In London I went to one of the biggest recruitment firms in the world six times before they would hire me; because I was a nurse they didn’t think I would be able to do it.”
