Danske Bank celebrates £200k charity milestone for children's mental health

  • Danske Bank has announced that it's raised over £200,000 for charity Action Mental Health in support of children's mental health in the past three years.

It's been a good year for Danske Bank in Northern Ireland, and that means it's been a good year for the bank's charity partners too. NI mental health charity Action Mental Health was selected as the Danske's strategic charity partner back in 2017 with the goal of raising funds specifically for children's mental health.

The charity's Healthy Me programme has been integrated into primary schools across Northern Ireland and teaches children aged 8 to 11 about mental health, healthy lifestyle choices, and how to get support if they need it. Throughout the three-year partnership Danske Bank has managed to raise £208,000 for the charity.

Danske's support is estimated to have reached around 5,000 children in Northern Ireland, and supported 800 parents and teachers to deliver the Healthy Me programme. This announcement comes at a time when Northern Ireland is coming under heavy fire for its lack of mental health support, with young people leading a political demonstration last weekend in Belfast calling for action from Stormont on mental health.

"Thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts, we will have reached over 5,000 primary school children with our Healthy Me programme," commented Action Mental Health's Fundraising & Communications Manager Jonathan Smyth, adding “We would like to offer our sincere and heartfelt thanks on behalf of everyone who has benefited. The positive impact on the children supported will be felt for years to come.”
