GCD Technologies: Lurgan firm celebrates 20th anniversary

  • Local software firm GCD is celebrating 20 years of designing and developing award-winning custom software products and mobile apps for a wide range of brands and start-ups.

    Its clients include Belfast Telegraph, PowerNI, Fane Valley, Coca-Cola, Independent.ie and CDE.

    Founded in 1999, the company held a party last week at their headquarters in Lurgan that was attended by staff, clients and friends with Margaret Tinsley, Deputy Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, attending as the honourable guest.

    The company’s co-founder and managing director Andrew Gough said thanked his clients and staff for their support, adding: “We have always been driven by a philosophy to make software that is both ambitious and enjoyable to use and I am proud that we have helped our clients bring their product ideas to life, streamline their business and ultimately open up new opportunities for them.”

    Andrew Cuthbert, technical director and co-founder of GCD commented: “As a local tech company, we have had the pleasure of being able to offer very highly skilled jobs in STEM to the local community in Craigavon - having employed regularly every year. We have grown in those 20 years from a two man operation to where we are now with a team of 35 software engineers, UX designers and testers. We are also passionate about helping and supporting new people into the tech industry via our Coder Dojo sessions that are free events aimed at introducing children to the basics of programming.”

    GCD said its focus will continue on developing its presence in the wider UK and Irish market, developing custom software solutions that “deliver real value”. . In addition to providing client services, it also develops its own products including Chariteer, a SaaS platform for fundraising charities in the UK and Ireland.
