Belfast's Farset Labs hackerspace is hosting a free Code First: Girls course starting on Tuesday 15th October that will introduce students to front-end web development.
The Code First: Girls initiative was designed to help young adult and working age women develop technical skills in programming and make connections with other women in their local tech community. The scheme runs both internal training for companies and external courses open to the public to help women advance their careers.
Farset Labs will be starting a new Code First: Girls course next Tuesday 15th October at 6PM that will introduce complete beginners to the world of front-end web development. The course lasts 8 weeks and will take place for two hours each week, with sessions being held from 6PM to 8PM so that they can be attended outside of most work and study commitments.
Applicants must identify as a woman or non-binary and will need to have a working laptop to attend the course. It's open to people aged between 18 and 23, current university students, and those who have studied at university in the last two years. Applicants are not expected to have any previous experience or have completed any Code First: Girls courses before.
The course is free to attend for those who meet the criteria, just head over to the signup page to register your interest. Those who can attend all of the sessions and complete the course competition assignment will receive a Code First: Girls certificate.
