Responding to the Prime Minister’s proposal, Ann McGregor, Chief Executive, Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry said:

“Whilst saying very little about Brexit in his speech, the Prime Minister referred to ‘no checks at the border’ rather than no checks at all. This definitely infers friction on all sides. It is not a situation conducive to business growth, export and private sector employment.  It is imperative that it does not happen even for a time limited period. Businesses are telling us that the potential increased costs will seriously damage business supply lines and indeed business survival.”
