The Belfast Telegraph's inaugural IT Awards are now open for entries.
Supported by the law firm Carson McDowell, the newspaper stated the awards “aim to recognise the cream of people, products and companies in Northern Ireland's thriving IT sector.”
A judging panel made up of industry leaders is chaired by Professor Karen Rafferty, head of the school of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen's University, Belfast.
Peter Guzhar, partner in Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution at sponsor Carson McDowell, said: "Carson McDowell is proud to support the inaugural Belfast Telegraph IT Awards, which will recognise the shining lights in one of the most important and fastest growing sectors of the Northern Ireland economy.
“We are heavily involved in this area, both through our work with exciting tech start-ups, indigenous IT companies and large-scale international investors, as well as our partnership with the globally recognised NI Cyber Cluster.”
The 13 categories are as follows:
- Best ‘Not for Profit’ Sector IT Project of the Year
- Best Use of Cloud Services
- Cybersecurity Project of the Year
- Digital Project of the Year
- Mobile App of the Year
- IT Professional of the Year
- Best Place to Work in IT
- IT Project Team of the Year
- IT Team of the Year
- Small IT Team of the Year

This is the first year the Belfast Telegraph has launched awards for people and companies within Northern Ireland’s IT sector specifically. However, it is not the first time the IT industry has seen success with the newspaper.
The Belfast Telegraph Business Awards in 2018 saw Belfast-based Novosco win 'Outstanding Business and IT Company of the Year'. The managed cloud provider also won 'IT Company or Team of the Year' at the 2017 Business Awards.
The deadline for entries across the 13 categories is September 26, while the awards ceremony takes place at 7pm in The MAC, Belfast on November 8.
