The inaugural 2019 UX Awards took place in Dublin recently, and three firms from Northern Ireland came out on top in their respective categories.

The UX Awards organised by Business River were started this year to recognise the increasingly important role that solid user experience design plays in product development, from customer-facing web platforms and mobile apps to enterprise systems and educational tools. The inaugural event took place recently in Dublin and was open to firms from all across Ireland, north and south.

The Northern Irish tech industry was well represented at the event, with several NI firms being shortlisted across many categories and three companies picking up awards. Belfast-based web marketing agency ProfileTree picked up the UX Achievement in Financial Services award for its "Simple User Focused Website for Brexit Plan" project, and Newry-based Fat Fish Marketing picked up the UX Achievement in Health & Lifestyle award for its website re-esign for Finca Skin Organics.

Belfast UX specialists Fathom came out of the awards with plenty to be proud of, being shortlisted in four different catgories and winning the UX Achievement in Entertainment award for its User Focused Product Design project for Sipario. Sipario is a B2B engagement platform designed to help music venues find and book classical music artists, and Fathom was involved in every stage of its design.
